news and such

OK, I finished a poncho for me! Yay! And here it is:

The color looks like crap, but it's black with red/hot pink fun fur trim. It's the same pattern I used for a friend's daughter, just a bit more embellished.

In other news, I found a LYS. Unfortunately, I do not have the money to shop at those kinds of places. The yarn really isn't expensive for the yarn they sell. I just can never afford to buy that kind of yarn. I wanted to get some cotton yarn for a skirt I like from my Happy Hooker's book, but it was $5.75/skein, and I need about 17.

So, I ended up substituting Lion Brand's Microspun. It's the same weight, so it should work. This is what I have accomplished so far:

LOL, I know... it's not much.

And finally... I got the name of my secret pal for the One Skein Secret Pal Exchange!! Yippee!! I can't wait to start finding yarns and getting yarns. WOOT!

OK, I have to skedaddle. I have a massage appointment to get to. It's my birthday, and I am going all out. But, I'll post all that to my other blog!

Oh, very cool yarn!!! I've not yet been close-up to any like it.

I find myself ordering most of my yarn from KnitPicks.com, in fact i just got some today...a third hank of laceweight to finish my Mom's shawl, and 4 balls of sock yarn, plus shipping for under $16. They offer free shipping on orders over $40, always.

They have some nice colors in their cotton, i've done some baby items with it, it's soft and works up nicely. check it out!

I might have to do that. I would like to support local shops, but I only have so much money. Ebay is becoming my best friend.
